Moving in the Anointing
Who is blind but My servant, or so deaf as My messenger whom I send?
Who is so blind as he that is at peace with Me, Or so blind as the servant of the LORD?Isaiah 42:19
When all around fades, and the only thing left is Him. When all background noises, and all distractions are stripped away, and you are only His flame (Psalm 104:4). When you see nothing but His purpose, and hear nothing but His voice.
There are many ways to move in the Kingdom’s power, but Jesus didn’t just come with a few simple nuggets, a few quick keys that might improve your ability to flow in the Spirit. His teaching wasn’t “pointers” for ministry, it was a yoke (Matthew 11:30).
The discipleship to the Lord takes everything you have. The simple reason behind could be described by this verse.
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Matthew 8:9
The weight of the responsibility of the Kingdom of God can be immense. In fact, this is one of the reasons we should be careful in how we judge our leaders, simply because we do not, in general, even begin to comprehend the pressures placed upon these men. Yet, the simple truth, acknowledge or not, is found in Matthew 7:24-27. He who hears His words, especially the Sermon on the Mount, and lives by them, will have dug deep (Luke 6:48), and founded his house upon the rock.
Jesus doesn’t have a single disease or demon recorded that He couldn’t handle, and, it would stand to reason that there aren’t any unrecorded instances either, judging from the disciples reactions in other places. Today, we see only portions of this and excuse it by saying, “There’s no one like Jesus”, but I agree with the response, “Yep, what a shame!”. The aim, the goal, the place we are aiming at, the place where we can finally say we’ve done “enough”, is this.
A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!
Matthew 10:24-25
It is “enough” to be like Him. That is when we’ve become our aim.
If we want the light and easy yoke, if we want the narrow way and the small door, we must endeavor to be like Him in every aspect, fully heeding His teachings through faith.
When the anointing comes at times, it is a tangible power you can feel leave your body (Mark 5:30). It is power, strength, and ability. Fear cannot exist in the anointing. Anxiety has no place there!
When the it is strong enough, the anointing can take over. Who is blind like my servant is blind? The man possessed by the Spirit, at times, sees nothing knows nothing and focuses on nothing except that which the Spirit desires. It is the very things that distract us out of this place, and why, that are immediately identified as soulish, as being that which draws one away from the Spirit.
To flow in the anointing is to yield to another. To be given over to the Supreme Spirit of all creation. It is no more a work of the soul than anything of this life. There is not a willing to do, but merely a cooperation with. When faith has it’s proper place, the effort is not to get onesself to believe what God wants to do, but merely to respond immediately.
This makes Luke 14:26 of primary importance, as well as Matthew 13:44. Unless you hate everything else in your life, you will never be free of it. If it pulls you away from the anointing, it is sin, and until you decide to hate it completely, forever, you will never be free of it. Jesus’ yoke works with the heart, to chose who you will make your god. You will love one and hate the other, so, in order to live a life on constant possession in the Holy Ghost demands, first of all, that, as you see something of utmost value, utmost worth, namely, the Kingdom, when your eyes see it and understand its worth, that you sell all. It may have value, it may not, but compared with what you have seen, it is as dung (Philippians 3:8).
To give up something that seems allowable in this life for nothing, simply for the sake of leaving it, is religion, and is never prescribed directly through scripture, so long as it is not sin and does not interfere with your normal Christian life. But, the nature of the Kingdom is of such worth, that, no matter what it is, it must be abandoned. Not for a sense of religious striving, but simply for the sole purpose of acquiring the precious, the power and flow of His anointing. Once you see it, you agree, that unless you have it, you are as nothing. There may be some merit or some other place for someone else, but once you see the Kingdom, whatever measure you see it, unless you sell your life, you are in sin, disobedience, and will hate your life anyway.
But, Jesus’ yoke says this. Hate your life now. Let no one come between you and Him. If for no other reason than simple obedience, it makes the weight lighter, and it is enough.
But, there is nothing greater. As John the Baptist was the greatest man who ever lived born of a woman (Matthew 11:11), the Kingdom is of such a superior quality, of a level that defies every religion and every other spirit, that, if we can touch it, if we can enter into it, and remain there, we are invincible.
This is what Jesus sums up the summary of the difference as.
This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.
John 3:19
When we are fully transparent, and brought into the light, not only are we free, but the Spirit has full reign. Were we to find this place, we would agree totally with Jesus, that there is no compromise warranted, no mixture worth it, and no place for anything other than absolute and complete blindness to everything else. Were we to simply believe Jesus’ words, the true measure for making Him our Lord, we would see whether or not His teachings were true (John 7:17).
