Nothing In Me
I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;
John 14:30
The safest place to be is locked within the almighty.
He who dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in Him will I trust.
Psalm 91:1-2
When we have nothing in us of the evil one, no darkness, no vile things, no shadows in any part, the enemy can have nothing over us, and all we must do is to stand. Jesus demonstrated the light and easy yoke. Yet, even in its extremes, with the very prince of the whole world set against Him, He did not break under the weight. Even under the weight of the heaviest oppression, with no one to stand with Him, He endured, and proved Himself to be God, to be perfect, Messiah, and King.
In doing so, He opened for us His Way, the new and living way through His blood. When we stand with nothing but the anointing, no identity but His, His Spirit within us withstands all opposition. It was only an uncompromised life, solely focused on the Spirit and only alive to do the Father’s will. This was His way, and it is The Way.
When we stand by His Spirit, we do not stand alone. Jesus endured the cross as His dark night, but those who follow Him will NEVER walk in darkness. You have your darkness if you choose to, but Jesus’ words are Eternal.
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.
John 8:12
Whether the sky is dark, or the sky is sunny, the truth remains the truth. Whether the light is embraced or shunned, it shines as brightly as it did on the day of Pentecost, it is merely whether your eyes are opened to see it.
What if the only work necessary was to completely surrender every desire to Him? What if it was to so place ourselves directly in the outpouring of His power, hating what we used to call life, recreation, and enjoyment, and redefine our existence as this Man? This King? This Eternal extravagance?
Could we ever be disappointed by such a one? Would He not be worth any sacrifice, including our own life? Beyond all of that, isn’t THIS the Gospel call?
Come ye, and die.
Anything less, and you’re a salesman.
You see, He won’t leave you as orphans. It might be too much to give up everything and immediately jump into all the spiritual disciplines like heavy fasting. Jesus even said so, indicating that the wine-skin, your very soul, might be ripped to shreds by the anointing’s churnings within you. But, He gives His Holy Spirit as the succor of life. He gives His sweet presence as the replacement for wine. And, He sheds His love, enough to break every fear, so that you cling wholly to nothing else.
And when you stand with nothing at all, you are not empty, but you are full. Whatever your end looks like, it is that place, where there is nothing left within, that you stand victorious, in life and in death.
Jesus’ blood is enough, it has covered all of your sins. Everyone loves to live in Psalm 110:3, volunteering willingly in the day of His power, but to live the life Galatians 2:20, it is no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me… You can have it if you want it, and there is nothing sweeter. His mouth is sweetness itself.
The life of compromise and half-hearted commitments is easy to live, and easy to break. But the man who has sold everything, who has placed everything into the Father’s house, must be killed many times before that is saint even shaken. Yet, his mark left is Eternal in the heavens.
Jesus could stand against the prince of this world, alone, abandoned, and rejected, because He had nothing of the evil one in Himself. And, He offers His life to you.
A revival borne of compromise has many weaknesses, and can be side-tracked. But, the revival started by one man, alone, Jesus Christ, endures forever, for it is His Kingdom.
When we set our eyes on His Kingdom, and know it’s worth, there can be no choice.
There is no loss in love. He is worth far more than anything we have. It is only courage, faith and trusting, that lets us see Him, desire Him, and lay down our selves entirely. When our eye is single, our whole body is full of light.
The strategy for winning any spiritual struggle is simple, bring nothing of yourself, but bring only Jesus, who has already won. Yet, the walking out of that, the sensitivity to every desire of the Spirit and His every instruction, is our Everlasting delight. As we focus on Him, and get distracted by no one, we walk in a perfect, unswerving walk.
For, He alone is able to guide us through the storms, and He alone is able to defend us. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
From this place, not only is even a mustard seed of faith enough, but it guarantees that we will not be distracted or pulled into any other vision. It is only the undivided heart that can be trusted with the fullness of Gospel power, and if you choose not to, He will simply wait another generation, or find another.
Change my heart, Oh God, make it ever true.
Change my Heart, Oh God, may I be like you….
