The Mustard Seed

April 3rd, 2012

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

Matthew 13:31-32

When faith begins, it begins as a seed.  A seed sown, the name of Jesus, and faith comes into the heart.  A man believes unto salvation, and a new thing is born.

When faith grows, it begins its work, even as a yeast within a dough, or fermentation within a wine.  It does its work secretly, silently, producing changes through the whole.

So, that which at once seemed foreign, even foolish, becomes more clearly of the Lord.

Even that faith which we began, with which we believed, as it grows, it becomes deeper.  Even as we encounter other things of this life, it is still that initial faith, growing, that overcomes the world (1 John 5:4).

Not reviling even the powers and spiritual powers of wickedness in the heavenly places, it is merely the power of faith within, and standing only upon that, that we emerge righteous.

Consider.

For, as the Lord adds line upon line, understanding upon understanding, revealing His Eternal nature, we are assured in greater and greater measure.  Even as the enemy might present himself as something formidable, it is still the simple understanding of that Word, growing within, that is at every moment sufficient to overcome every evil, regardless of size.

The seed, which growing and increasing, line upon line and precept upon precept, with understanding upon understanding, is the same faith as the beginning, but is more mature.

As our eye is single, and is focused upon this one thing alone, there is no power in all of creation that can defeat us.

For, if the eye is single, the whole body is full of light.  As that light is Christ, His name fills our being, until we stand, victorious over every foe, in His name.

If we hold fast to this faith, if we hold fast to this one thing.

This is the faith.  The substance.

It is the entirety of His Kingdom, and by understanding, we know that only the smallest seed is sufficient to stand.  So, if we stand in what faith we have, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to our natural mind, it will grow, it will fill us, we will be satisfied with His likeness and coming.

As we stand in even the simplest Word of the Lord, written or quickened to our spirit, we see the deliverance of the Lord, the breaking of every stronghold and spiritual power, so that the powers in the heavens are moved, and God’s Kingdom and light comes forth.  As He strengthens us, even in our weakness, we are increased, and the planting of the Lord grows, stands against all else, and is proven true.

And, tomorrow, with greater faith, it is only ever abiding in His words that we remain in His love.

Forever.
