The Substance
In the substance of your being do I exist. In the evidence of who you are, invisible, Eternal, do I find my place.
In the intimate places of my heart, in the secret places of your chambers, you abide, and make me real.
There is no reality found within this life, and there is no truth within its shadows. The reality, the real, is only you.
Indeed, the fountain of life is with you. In your light we see light.
Psalm 36:9
For you are the life, and not a part. The whole, the real, and the Eternal. There is no life outside of you.
In your being alone is my wholeness, and my soul finds complete rest within you.
There is no comfort in a vapor, nor pleasure in a shadow, but only in the reality that is called True.
This abiding, this being, within your presence, this knowing and this living within the rock, is far greater than I know, and yet, what I know captivates me beyond all compare.
Let me walk in your rivers, let me delight in your footsteps. Let me follow you, in the Spirit, into the heights of your character, and the pleasures of your name. Truly, your name is as ointment poured forth (Song of Songs 1:3).
This is the place of your Kingdom, this realm of God. No other can compare, nor any other match it, for they are from beneath, and you are from above (John 8:23). As different as day and night are your realities.
If only man could see, and believe. If only I could see a little further into your reality, into your surpassing greatness.
For faith is the substance of this place, and its evidence, and the just do live by it.
Let me see your dominion, and your rule. Let me know your justice and your mercy. Let me taste and experience the depths of intimacy, for all this world is dust, and is fading away. All dominions and powers and rulers are but nothing to you.
But, there is no shadow of turning with you, and from ages past to ages future, you are the same.
I rest my soul in you, and eat of the fatness of your being.
For truly, the nations rage, and the tempests scream, but those who are firmly fixed upon you shall not be moved.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
