For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 8:6

The life of the Spirit is life and peace.  The difference is whether you believe.

Living as the world lives, or as any false cult or religion, is always death.  It can only rely upon the basic principles and elementary principles of this world.  But the life of the Spirit of Christ transcends all the natural.

There is no natural law, no elementary principle, nor anything else of the created order to which a believer, ultimately, is subjected to.  Not even death.

Now, you may object if you want.  Many would, but they would not be in the Spirit.

So, where is the difference?  Why don’t we see Christians leaping off buildings and flying?  Because, simply, the Kingdom belongs to those who need it, who cannot live with anything else.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Matthew 4:7

Jesus’ authority was subject to another’s.  He never did anything except that which He saw the Father doing, and hence, He won every time.  In the possibility of calling down all power and all authority, Jesus only ever obeyed.

Do you want to walk in the same manner Jesus did?  Then, you must understand that an adulterous and evil generation asks for a signs.  Oh, there may still be a part working in me that desires to see a sign as well, but that is merely my old self.  The new creation in Christ, that is growing in the Holy Ghost, accepts God as who He is, as He who does whatever pleases Him, and is not a monkey on a string to do a trick.

But, Jesus saw more than most anyone else.  There have been plenty of disciples who have done greater works, but the quality and the totality of Jesus’ work is still the mark to be aimed for.

Jesus did not tempt God His Father, and He encountered His Father’s Kingdom on the same principles as He taught, the Sermon on the Mount.

The truth is we are not subject to the Earth, but we must be subject to the Father.  Failing to be subject to the Father may at first seem like some new thing, but as without Him we can do nothing, so without subjection, our authority is taken, and we fall back to whence we came.  We must not be seeking these things for soulish gratification, or for a selfish delight.

When our sole gratification is the delight of heaven, then the Lord can entrust us with greater and greater realms of grace, mercy, and ultimately, power.

The more we subject ourselves to the power of the Kingdom, the more we see His reality as the dominant, as the real and the true.  We see His power as sufficient.

This is the walk of the Gospel, to enter into the Kingdom and to dwell, individually and corporately, in a realm and dimension of His Spirit, so that the overflowing grace and power of His peace so captivate and consume us that nothing else matters, or is seen.

 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD’s servant?

Isaiah 42:19

The Kingdom of Heaven is supreme over everything.  Yet, how do we get that power to work for us?  It comes, when the eye is single, and nothing else matters.

To be spiritually minded is life and peace.  This is the promise of Scripture through the hand of Paul.

As God has given us everything pertaining to life and godliness.  And, as we serve the King, nothing is impossible for Him who believes!
