Flesh

February 27th, 2012

Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.

1 Corinthians 6:13 (portion)

Our bodies were made for the Lord.  Consider the parable of the yeast in Matthew 13:33.  The kingdom is likened to measure of yeast which a woman hid in a large quantity dough until the whole lump was leavened.  That little bit of something worked its way through the entire lump, changed it, and transformed it into something better.  What happens when the Holy Spirit comes into us?  Let us look a moment at some examples.

The Willing Spirit

February 20th, 2012

Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Mark 14:38

It is the heart willing to say yes and to follow it with obeying that sustains.  It is the heart, the spirit, that wants to follow, that chooses to believe, follow, and obey that receives the blessing.

Life grows from a willing spirit.  The heart that chooses to go on, the heart that has a will to live.

Jesus in the Kingdom

February 14th, 2012

Imagine, for a moment, that Jesus was like us, approaching Christianity as we know it today.

Suppose, for instance, He, the King and creator of the universe, was standing in front of the religious leaders of His day with the mindset we see in the church today.  Perhaps he might approach leaders of a “different denomination” with some cordiality, trying to find some “common ground” so that they could see a little more “on the same level”.

Perhaps He might have, to use popular expression, tried to scale the mountain of the religion in His day to try to disciple His nation.

But, from the text, Jesus didn’t do any of that.

Kingdom All Around

January 29th, 2012

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:2 KJV

When all around us, every where we look, the Kingdom realm is shining, what else need we to stand?  When our eyes are solely fixed, what other can entice?

For the entrance of His word brings light, and in His light, we see light!

The Kingdom is now, and it is here, and it is in me, at hand.  For His power lies within me, for His promise lives within.

His Spirit and His life, His very words He spoke, have sprouted and grown leaves, unto the budding grain.

Purity

January 27th, 2012

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Matthew 5:8

All of my desire is in this one thing, to see His Face (Psalm 27:4).  If we truly have this hope in ourselves, we will purify ourselves (1 John 3:3).

The New Testament is replete with examples that underscore the fact that the God of the Old Testament hasn’t changed His desire for purity and holiness as a lifestyle for those who are of His house.

Hebrews 12:14 says without holiness no one will see Him.  2 Corinthians 7:1 indicates that we should do it out of reverence.  It was because of His reverence that Jesus was heard of His Father when He prayed (Hebrews 5:7).  Ephesians 5:6 indicates strongly, lest we give way to being deceived with empty words, that God’s wrath is coming upon the disobedient.  Even Jesus Himself, in Matthew 5:48, commanded us to be perfect, even as the Father is perfect.

Just One Thing

January 11th, 2012

We have a model, a standard, a measure of perfection.  If ever we needed an absolute standard, it is today.  It isn’t found in an international standard of measures, nor is it found in a business formula, but it is found in a man, perfect, humble, and willing to die.

But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 16:33 (portion)

There is no limit to what we have in God, but only in ourselves, when we find our lives not measuring up to the mountain we are trying to move with our mustard seed of faith, we need only look one place for the answer, within.  Jesus was never alone, He always had the Father.  He never, in the record of the Gospels, moved a literal mountain, because He never, apparently, saw the Father doing so.  But, equally important to remember in this day is, He could!

The Uttermost

January 4th, 2012

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8

Unto the farthest measure, marker, and beyond.  To least of the least, to the last of the last.  Paul said that it was the apostles that were carried away like those condemned to die.  Every day they faced martyrdom, elements, desolation, and infirmities of the flesh.  And, every day, the Lord strengthened them.

Unto the uttermost parts of the Earth.  Unto the farthest of the far, and then some.  The last mile can seem the most expensive, but it is the most profitable.  What is the price of one soul?  What is the price of eternal judgement?

All The Way

January 1st, 2012

Lord, I commit to you all the way.  No holding back, no part of this life which is over.

You said that I am crucified to this world, and that is what I am.  No part of this world is worthy of you, so I take nothing of it before you.  Into your hands, I commit my spirit.

There is nothing this world has to offer.  I hate it, with all of it’s corruption.  While I may be in it, I am not of it.  For I have died.  I am crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but it is Christ that lives in me.  The life I live, I live by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.  Galatians 2:20.

In The Spirit

December 28th, 2011

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:6

When you have nothing else to lose, because you have given Him everything, you are free.  The poor man hears no threats (Proverbs 13:8).

Life in the Spirit is a life of singularity.  Only one thing matters.  From multiple scriptures, the key to unlimited potential in the anointing, whether you have a little or a lot, is just focus.

Doves Eyes

November 28th, 2011

When all is stripped away, and nothing else remains, you can trust in His love.  His love remains, when everything else is shaken (Romans 8:37-39), and by it, we live without fear (1 John 4:18).

Into His love we commend ourselves each day.  Further into His glory, His goodness, His mercy.

All we need is His love.  Our only true possession in this life is this place of union.

The life of the flesh doesn’t matter in the end.  What matters is Eternity.  According to Isaiah 40, all of man’s pomp and pride fall away into the dust and ashes they came from, and all that remains is faith, hope, and love (1 Corinthians 13:13).
