It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1 NASB
Slavery comes in all forms. And, sometimes, they are the most well-seeming ones. But, first, let us study freedom.
But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ. But the greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.
Matthew 23:8-12 NASB
Freedom looks like being free. And, with that freedom comes responsibility. No one can be free unless he chooses to subject himself to some form of self-restraint. Any man would quickly ruin himself if he only chose what seemed right in the moment.
But, God gave us freedom to free us from the law of sin, so that we might obey the law of life and liberty in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2).

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
John 7:7
The world hates followers of Jesus. The verdict against humanity is this, that men, even though confronted with their own sin in the light, prefer to kill those who show them they are wrong, rather than coming with humility before an Almighty, merciful God (John 3:19). Rather than feeling with their heart, they justify, set up road blocks, walls, and excuses that they cannot tell right from wrong any more.
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 5:20

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:18-20
The message to the church of Laodicea was clear. Get tested and tried faith, get righteous acts, and get healing for your sight, so you can see. Read more…

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
The issue of the ages is a sin issue.
It has never been an issue of the knowledge of good versus evil, for that is God’s domain, and we were told to steer clear of it, but it has always been about sin.
From the beginning, it has always been about Life in Obedience.
The law was added due to the increase of transgressions. God’s standard of right has never changed, but it was added. It was God’s perfect righteousness.

Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.
Mark 1:14-15
From the beginning of His ministry, Jesus came preaching the Gospel of God, that the Kingdom of God is at hand.
This was His message, that the good news, the long awaited Kingdom from heaven was now within arm’s reach, and that it was to be believed in. The command for every call to the Kingdom has always been ‘Repent and believe!”.
